| British born Charlotte MacMillan began working as a professional photographer after studying film-making in New York. She started her career in fashion and dance photography, shooting editorials for Conde Nast, The Telegraph, The Evening Standard and Oyster Magazine and portrait commissions from The Telegraph magazine. In 2002 she had a major exhibition at the Royal Opera House for her images documenting dancers preparing for performances which was subsequently printed in The Telegraph Magazine. In 2005 she was nominated for the Ian Parry Award for photojournalism on her portrait series "Recovery Rooms", a portrait series of people in recovery of drug and alcohol addiction. Following this, she was commissioned by the Hepatitis C Trust to shoot a portrait series for their "Get Tested !" campaign. She is currently working on a dance portrait series to be exhibited in 2012.
